-Name: Patodruida
-Age: 32
-Years playing: 18
-Favorite artists: The Who, Pink Floyd, ZZ Top, Sonic Youth, The Clash, Bob Dylan, The Cure, My Bloody Valentine, Captain Beefheart, the list could go on and on and on...
-Most hated artists: Reaggeaton performers. I know, they don't even qualify as "artists" but they are the only purveyors of sound I despise.
-Equipment: Guild S-300, American Standard Stratocaster, Godin SD1, Yamaha Acoustic, Marshall JCM800 MKII, Orange 2x12 Cab, Boss Volume, Vintage MXR Dynacomp, Digitech Whammy I, Dunlop Crybaby Wah (soon to be replaced by a Teese RMC), Gee Bee Ziggy Piggy (custom-made Fuzz Face clone), Lovetone Brown Source, Russian-Made GT-2 Clone, EH Small Stone, Boss DD3 Delay, Roland RE-501 Chorus Echo
-Favorite scale: Major Pentatonic (greasy and dirty, great for bluegrass-flavoured rock)
-Favorite key:A
-Favorite guitar technique: Hybrid Picking (me likes me chicken)
-Favorite decade of music: Seventies
-List your 5 favorite Guitarists: (In no particular order) Billy Gibbons, Mark Knopfler, Pete Townsend, Sir David Gilmour, Angus Young
-List your 5 favorite axes: Fender Stratocaster (a fine example of industrial design elevated to the level of art), Gibson SG (not quite as "posh" as the LP nor as well-designed as the Strat but a great-looking and serviceable instrument in the end), Fender Jaguar (I can't afford the early sixties model my ex-father-in-law has, but I play it every now and then), Duesenbergs and Reverends (the last two being among the very few active manufacturers who still give a sh*t about the quality of the instruments they build).
-What is your favorite solo?: "Sultans of Swing" by Mark Knopfler
-5 worst solos you can think of: You name the late 80's Hair Band, I name the crappy solo.
-5 most generic bands you can think of: Creed, Nickelback, Staind, Warrant, Winger
-3 most hated effects:Pretty much anything built by Zoom and Peavey. I am something of a snob when it comes to gear, I reckon.
-(this one is for rooney)Do you like Rush?: Only when I am driving.
-What do you think is shitty music?: Anything written to make a quick buck.
-Your ideal guitar tone: It depends. I used to be a Class A type of guy who loved the "chimey" Vox AC-15 sound but grew weary of how unreliable the crappy reissues are. Nowadays I go for muscle: Basically you plug a good American-made guitar (gauges .10 and up) into a fine British amplifier, get a bright tone (remember, you have to cut through the loud drummer and the bass player with his 4x10 - 2x15 400 watt full stack) and crank it up until you get a warm tone with just the right amount of power-valve overdrive. Then (and only then) you drive the mofo with a healthy dose of pedal-based distortion and fuzz. Don't over-do it, though.
